crooked letter d

i was really lacking for material this week. thank the lord almighty for nah right. they just posted a link to a two page rolling stone article on why weezy f. baby is MC OF THE YEAR. perfect. thank you, nah right. you’re the best blog in the whole wide world. really though.

there is blog etiquette or something where if you jack something from someone else’s blog, you have to put []…this…[] in the comments or some shit. i personally think it’s a fucking blog and who cares. sorry.

the rolling stone article…i would suggest you read the whole thing, but here are some highlights if you’re not the reading type:

“…he stays on the bus, lighting blunt after blunt and watching Animal Planet on the TV.”

“…the kind of crabs that show up in your pants: “I had that shit! The worst!” ”

“After more than six months of delays, Wayne’s sixth official solo album is finally slated for June.” [fuck!-ed.]

“Wayne has said that no leaked material will end up on Carter III”

there’s also an interesting tidbit about just exactly how much music wayne makes on the regular. wayne claims he’s made thousands of songs in the past couple of years; rolling stone says 500ish. in the end it’s still a whole lot of music. it’s fucking brilliant, what he’s doing. chances are the blunt-codeine-promethazine cocktail will wear on him soon enough, and he’s going to have to find a way to provide for his seed once he’s gone-but-not-forgotten. he’s getting makaveli in this bitch. what i would do to get my hands on that anthology…

anywhoo, i should be getting to bed. it’s not even wednesday anymore. fail. i’mma be in ottawa til the 28th, so blawgging will be to a minimum. peace!

p.s. when life gives you lemons, you paint that shit gold. i love you too.

[thanks mike!]

another reason why 1993 PWNS: “In 1993, Snoop Dogg released the first debut album in history to hit the Billboard music charts at #1.” …from a pretty entertaining article entitled 6 Ways That Rappers are Like Bloggers.

carter iii

this is supposedly the cover for Tha Carter III. the text looks a bit shotty to me, but otherwise it leaves me speechless.

wayne’s been keeping quiet lately, so let’s just hope that means he is finishing THE MOST ANTICIPATED ALBUM IN HIP HOP.

anyways, here is a song called pray for us by weezy & juelz. i hate to say it, but santana basically destroys, while wayne just sounds like a crazy.

(almost as important as loving your city.)

i don’t really know why i named this love your city. it was really the first thing that came to my head at the time. this is more than likely because i was falling more and more in love with vancouver by the day and being reminded of that by the moment. and it’s just a nice sentence, love your city. feel me?

i’m going back to ottawa soon for a visit and already bursting with excitement. although i left for the best coast and haven’t looked back since, the ol’ 613 still pulls at my heartstrings once in a while. every city is lovable, and it’s really what you make of it.

it ain’t where ya from, it’s where ya at.

really though? i’m from somewhere mighty nice…

Frýdek-Místek, CZ. ❤

does your city have a castle?

he has two websites where you can check out a bunch of his work. take the time.

you know when you have that feeling in the pit of your stomach? when something is wrong? or about to be wrong? maybe you’ve forgotten something? maybe you’ve forgotten someone? maybe someone’s forgotten you. whatever it is, i’ve had it since i woke up.

it could have started with having too much free time this morning, which inevitably led me to waste so much time that i had to rush out the door and bike quickly instead of walk at a leisurely pace. and i don’t particularly like biking. i know, i know, it’s vancouver and that’s blasphemy but whatever. i mean, it’s okaay. but there is so much scary driving happening at all times in this city and i have too much of an intense dislike for helmets and maybe i just haven’t found the right bike yet, but until that day comes, i will continue to bike begrudgingly. and use too many commas & run-on sentences. my life is a run-on sentence.

the bike ride ended up being better than anticipated (both there and back) and work was great and after work i had a wonderful night with wonderful friends and i was even wearing a pair of earrings which generally succeed in putting me in an outstanding mood (check) but at the same time…things done changed.

this feeling of forgetting is frustrating. i have everything i need when i’m leaving the house and yet i’m running around like a chicken with its head cut off looking for what it is that i’m missing/forgetting. something in the universe is askew. and…

i’m pretty over it and i just want whatever future catastrophe is causing me to feel this way to fucking happen already. i say, goddamn. ah, it’s late. i should go to sleep in hopes of…..i want to say….tomorrow being better day, but that’s not really the problem, as today was glorious. so here i go, in hopes of sleeping it off. wish me luck!

photos jacked from my homie stef’s facebook. i didn’t ask. shhhhh.

roses, petunias

so i was at somewhat of a loss for what to write about this weezy wednesday. the drought is over 5 dropped on sunday and it was somewhat of a disappointment. it’s just really unremarkable and by the time today rolled around, all i could really recall is that “lollipop” has grown on me to the point where i am embarrassed by it.

so i let her lick the rapper

don’t get me wrong, it’s still definitely worth a listen or eight, but don’t expect no drought 3. here is the track listing:
1. Carter III Is Coming (Grand Closing)
2. I
3. Walk It Off
4. Open Shop
5. Done It
6. Introducing Milli
7. Milli
8. Damn I’m Cold feat. Bun B
9. I’m A Dog Ya (Freestyle)
10. Stunt When I See You
11. We Hustle
12. I Got My
13. Lick The Rapper
14. Certified
15. Girls All Around
16. Single Again
17. Drought Is Finally Over
18. Too Clean feat. Lil’ Chuckie
19. Nike Boots feat. Wale (Official Remix)

now that that’s out of the way we can get down to what i really brought you here for…enrich the next 2 minutes of your life with this little gem:

[ appKey=MarbachViewerEmbedded&uri=channels/40476&embedId=10108804]

say what you will, but i think it’s hilarious. not to read into it too deeply or anything, but it’s a pretty legitimate social commentary. under-stimulated masses are bombarded with retarded soulja boy dances and t-pain and licking rappers and just shit pure shit all day long, and what’s worse is they pay for it. if i was a talented musician and i saw that this was the kind of dribble people listened to and danced to and imitated, of course i would try to figure out how to make some bank off that. unfortunately, t-wayne has figured out how to do just that, and i fear that his forthcoming musical contributions will be just as much of a joke as this video. aaaahh-nnoying.
